From Lake Tahoe to Banff: A Journey of Love and Adventure

These two waited years for this moment due to border closures and restrictions into Canada. We can all confidently say it was WELL. WORTH. THE. WAIT.

Sage + Tyler—

Against all odds during the challenging times of the pandemic, their determination to celebrate their union led them from the breathtaking shores of Lake Tahoe to the majestic landscapes of Banff, Canada.

5 Ways to Help Family and Friends Feel included When Eloping

5 Ways to Include

Family + Friends

When Eloping

One of the top reasons couples struggle to elope is because of guilt they might feel for not inviting family and friends OR the pressure they feel from family and friends.

While I understand that it’s hard to make everyone happy, I want to provide some ways to show your family and friends love and support as you plan a day that is aligned and authentic to you.

01.

Have family and friends write letters for you to read together on your elopement day.

02.

Have a family or friend officiate or to have as your witness

03.

Set-up a live stream or video the elopement

04.

Similar to #1, your guests can leave photos and messages through a virtual guest book such as the Joy app.

05.

Allow them to still be a part of the planning process. This could include having them come dress/tux shopping, having a send-off party or engagement party, or having your best friends help create your bouquet(s) or boutonniere(s).

*Bonus*

Send out “WE ELOPED!” cards including a favorite image of your elopement day. You can add a sweet message thanking them for their continued support on your life journey to let them know that though they weren’t physically there, you were thinking of them and love them.

Barbados Intimate Wedding | Eco Lifestyle Lodge, Bathsheba

These two have quite the wedding story to tell…

After 2 years of delayed plans due to the pandemic, they FINALLY got to have the tropical wedding adventure of their dreams. It was finally here— their adventurous Barbados wedding. While they were ecstatic to be there, nuance issues started to pop up left and right. Their friends crashed their Barbados rental car, many guest and family members flights were getting delayed, and then even worse… their wedding photographers flights got delayed (aka me). My first flight got delayed, causing me to miss my connecting flight. I wasn’t guaranteed a flight until Friday, 2 days later. The bummer here is that they had an all-day all inclusive catamaran trip planned for friday I was going to photograph. THANKFULLY, I was able to fly standby the next day, making it the night before their Catamaran ride out of Bridgetown. Then, the icing on top, the day of their wedding, seconds before their ceremony, a storm rolled through cutting out power…

The planner got on the phone with the power company, and within MINUTES, they were out there fixing it up to make sure the bride and groom had the perfect day. The locals were beyond kind and welcoming, and truly made the experience wonderful. Before we knew it, the power was back on! The rest of the day was absolutely flawless.

I say all this to say— these two rolled with the punches, stayed positive, and knew that any troubles that happened could not take away from the fact that at the end of the day, they were getting married surrounded by their closest loved ones.

Sam + Zach: Glamis Sand Dunes Engagement Session

Sam and Zach reached out to me with the intention to create a memorable adventure to celebrate their recent engagement. We wanted to plan an adventure session that helped showcase the adventurous spirit these two embody in their daily lives. They were flying from New York to San Diego for the first time, and I knew I wanted to help create something that be epic! They had seen Sand Dune photos on Pinterest prior to talking and knew it was their #1 top location for engagement photos. They decided to rent a jeep from Turo, which we used to take some epic night time photos! I provided them with some of my favorite, local places to visit in San Diego during their stay. We decided to shoot at the dunes on Thursday evening to avoid the weekend dune buggy crowd, and were so excited to mostly have the dunes to ourselves! It was insanely windy, which ended up making the photos that much better.

At the end of our session, Sam and I were in tears that we had to leave each other. We had spent so much time communicating to plan their session and felt like we had known each other forever during the session. I love that these two New Yorkers chose me to document such a special time in their lives and that I left with two new besties!
